At Out There Tours our main objective is to provide you with a safe, fun, quality outdoor experience. We have a duty of care. We want you to experience the best our region has to offer with our friendly, welcoming staff. We comply with the HSWA.
We are a company that is into adventure tourism, not extreme adventure activities.
Our Responsibilities
Have safe operating procedures for passengers
Meet our duties under HSWA
Check the weather is suitable for the activity
Check road conditions
Ensure passengers wear seat belts
Ensure the vehicle is well maintained, serviced and has a current registration and WOF
Give a safety briefing prior to departure
Check participant’s skill level is consistent with the anticipated activity
Monitor fitness levels including signs of fatigue
Inform you of our emergency response plan
Carry appropriate equipment for the planned activity
Constantly assess the risk of people, the environment, time and equipment.
Be mindful of climatic changes and its effects- (snow, ice, wind chill factor, dehydration)
Maintain an accident register as required
Ask your permission to use images on social media for publicity purposes
Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act (2015) and the Maritime Transport Act (1994)
Ensure a comprehensive Safety management System (SMS) is complied with
Your Responsibilities
To enjoy yourself
Take reasonable care of their own health and safety
Take reasonable care that the things they do not harm the health and safety of other people
Follow reasonable instructions given by the operator so that the operator can comply with their duties under HSWA.
Inform the tour company of any medical conditions including allergies that may affect the tour
Inform the company prior to departure of any disabilities
Notify us of any accidents and inform us of any hazards
Be responsible for your own fitness and inform the guide if you need assistance
Wear appropriate clothing for the activity
Be drug free
Smoking is not permitted
A gear list is available on request
Managing Risks in the Outdoors
Sunburn, sprains, falls, shock, lack of knowledge, poor communication and language barriers
Awareness of natural hazards such as landslides, earthquakes, tsunami, wind, subsidence, fire and flooding
